Cove Haven Resorts

Good Afternoon All,

My husband and I will be staying at Cove Have at the end of Jan. To see Ruben Studdard on my B-day weekend. We will be staying in the Cove Harbour Suite.

I wanted to know what do we expect in Jan. Since we have never been. Will we be able to do different activities eventhough it will be winter?

Did anyone stay at Cove Harbour or just Cove Haven before can you tell me what we should expect?

The only activities not available in January would be speed boat rides, and driving range. Everything else should be fine.

Unfortunately there is no snow here right now, so any snow related activities is out of the question. Cove Haven is very nice though.

We always go in the fall when leaves are changing. You won%26#39;t be

disappointed. Relax and really let go and you%26#39;ll have the best time.

There are activities you can do with or without each other. As I said never went in Winter.

We usually go to Pocono Palace in winter because everything is in one building. This year we tried Cove Haven in winter %26amp; had SO much fun! They have indoor tennis courts, indoor ice skating rink, etc.! They provide transportation, too, so no need to walk out in the cold! Enjoy!

thursday july 12th, my boyfriend and I , and some friends are going to see billy joel at hershey park stadium. ( we are staying over at crowne plaza and then doing hershey park the next day, havent been thier since junior high school ) , anyway, has anyone ever been thier?

how is the arena overall?

i am from brooklyn, so usually most of my concerts I see are in NYC , however , I thought it would be fun to get away from the city for a day ( plus concert tix were sold out for billy joel at shea stadium)

is the sound ok? i am sure the acoustics are fine as it is an arena, is alcohol served ? parking ?

Hershey Park Stadium

The stadium is an outdoor venue. It is not the Giant Center which is indoors. Yes, I have been numerous times and the acoustics are fine considering it is outdoors. These shows go on rain or shine so make sure you bring a`cheap poncho with you (less than $5 at Walmart). They do sell beer. Make sure you take an ID, they check and then put a wristband on you so they don%26#39;t have to keep checking.

Billy Joel doesn%26#39;t have much of a warm up act, so be there on time or you will miss part of the show. I missed buying tickets for the Hershey show and ended up with tickets at Virginia Beach on June 21st. Loved the show. Don%26#39;t leave early, he comes back out and does a few more songs. His voice gets a little warbly, but hey, who of us is as good as they were 20 years ago. He is a classic and will never go out of style.

Enjoy the park. They have some great coasters if you are into them.

And while you%26#39;re there, make sure you ask for a printed tour map of the building - you can wander through the various rooms, including the unoccupied guest rooms on the upper floors, and learn the history of the place - very interesting. If one of the employees have time, they%26#39;ll even escort you %26amp; share the ghost stories of each area. It%26#39;s a lot of fun, and the building is beautiful.

Hersey on a budget

Does anyone know of an inexpensive hotel near Hersey that 6 adults and 2 young teens can stay? MUST be CLEAN but doesnt need to be fancy

Did you check out the hotels on this site? I spoke to the owner of the White Rose when I was looking at where to stay (ended up using points with Marriott) and he seemed very nice and willing to help out as much as possible. Price looks right and can%26#39;t beat the location.

There are several great campgrounds in and around Gettysburg. Several are award winning. I suggest calling the Visitors Bureau (800-337-5015) who can also let you know if there are available lots depending on when you plan to visit. When we go camping in Gettysburg, we always stay at Round Top Campground. It is a very nice campground that is off of Route 15. Even though the campground is located close to a busy highway, it is very quiet at night. The staff members are very nice and helpful. If you make reservations ahead of time, tell them that you have a fifth wheel camper. My grandparents bought a fifth wheel last year and when we went to Round Top, they gave us a rather large site that was plenty big enough for us. We like to pay bingo, which they almost always have on the weekends. They also have an outdoor pool and an arcade for kids. I would highly recommend staying at this campground.

I am not sure what the deal is with Round Top. I think that the campground is under new management and is rapidly going downhill. The new staff members aren%26#39;t the nicest and don%26#39;t answer questions truthly, as mentioned in the latest review. I am very disappointed to hear this. I always thought it was one of the nicest campgrounds around. The people at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. The bathroom facilities were kept clean and we always enjoyed staying there. We probably would have stayed at Round Top again this summer, but my grandma died unexpectedly and it just wouldn%26#39;t be the same to go camping without her. After hearing such disappointing things about this campground, I am sorry to say that I no longer will recommend this campground to anyone unless the new owners get their act together. Try somewhere else. Gettysburg Campground is supposed to be pretty nice. I am not sure if they have any large sites for fifth wheels or not. You might want to check that campground out if you haven%26#39;t already done so.

We talked to our old neighbors about Round Top last night and didn%26#39;t like a word we heard. They go there all the time and really like(d) the campground, but they do not plan to ever go there again after this last time. They said that is really getting run down and seemed like a totally different campground. Apparently the new owners are from California and don%26#39;t have a clue what they are doing. The campground is supposively going to be turned into condos. I am very, very upset to learn that one of my favorite campgrounds has been sold to someone who could care less and that it has become so run down in such a short amount of time. Please do not stay here- the ';new'; Round Top doesn%26#39;t deserve any business.

If there%26#39;s a plan for condos on that site, it hasn%26#39;t been in the local newspaper. And development around here always makes the paper.

I also heard that Drummer boy is suppossed to be nice. Have never been there though, but it was highly rated in woodalls.

We went camping at Drummer Boy one time, but I was too young to remember it. I think it is pretty nice, but not as nice as Round Top WAS before it changed hands this year. (IMALOCAL- my old neighbors just camped at Round Top this past weekend, so the plans for the condos might be too new to be in the paper.) I have also heard that Gettysburg Campground is very nice, so maybe you want to check that out.

I live in Media and travel the 2 hrs to gettysburg every summer. I%26#39;ve done hotels, motels and campgrounds. As far as campgrounds go-- DRUMMER BOY WAS AWESOME.

We stay in their camping cabins and always have a wonderful time.

Need Lodging in Camden, NJ - Near Wiggins Park

Looking for some advice. We want to find a nice hotel close to Wiggins Park to attend the WXPN Xponential Music Festival. The list of hotels provided on the XPN.org site seems to be incorrect (e.g. - there is no Marriott at 2 Riverside Dr; and can%26#39;t seem to locate a Clarion at 915 State St.). Perhaps these hotels have been bought out by other hotel chains? (The phone number listed for the Marriott has been disconnected.)

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas/suggestions it would be appreciated. We were hoping to be within walking distance of the event. But if that%26#39;s not possible, then a least a short taxi ride away. I guess we could stay in Philly and take the Ferry, but it appears that the Ferry shuts down very early in the evening.

You really don%26#39;t want to stay down there...

None of the hotels they show with Camden addresses are actually in Camden, both of them are on Rte 73 near the 295 exit in Mt Laurel, about 25 mins away from the park.

Your best bet is those or any of the hotels along rt 70 in Cherry Hill, such as the crowne plaza. It%26#39;s only about a 15-25 min drive from there...

I%26#39;d second that opinion...you REALLY don%26#39;t want to stay in Camden. There is a Holiday Inn in Cherry Hill and the Crowne Plaza. Those would be your closest choices and the Clarion is about another 2 miles east of those hotels, but also right on Route 70. You will have a car, correct? You will need to drive into Camden from your hotel. The ride isn%26#39;t too long, but you should allow for extra time for traffic/parking.

Actually, your best bet is to stay in downtown Philadelphia near the waterfront and take the ferry over. Here is a link to the ferry information: http://www.riverlinkferry.org/

I agree with Owlyn about staying in downtown Philly near the Waterfront. Check out the Hyatt at Penn%26#39;s Landing or the Sheraton Society Hill to see if they are within your price range.

The ferry usually runs late when there are concerts on the Camden waterfront.

It is true that there are no hotels, B%26amp;Bs or nice motels in the city of Camden. However, there are a couple of possibilities I can think of right off the top of my head.

1) In Camden - At some colleges, it is possible to rent a dorm room during the summer break. If Rutgers does, their Camden campus is ideally located for you - it is on the Riverline light rail line that picks up near the concert venue. Here%26#39;s the website, if you want to call and ask. The campus is very nice, has a pleasant quad, etc.

2) Outside Camden - the Haddonfield Inn, which is not in walking distance of Camden or the concert, but is within walking distance of the PATCO train line that runs through Haddonfield, and into Camden, where you can transfer to the Riverline that takes you to the venue.

As to whether you REALLY want to stay in Camden - here are a couple of things to mull:

Also - a tourist staying in Philadelphia pays 14% hotel tax, compared to 5% in NJ. And the city of Philadelphia is currently considering raising that figure to 14.9%, to pay for the expansion of the convetion center.

Parkway East Closures - how to find out when?

Does anyone know how I can found out about Parkway East closures for future dates? I am going to Pittsburgh for a family reunion July 19-20, but cannot find anything to tell me whether there will be any lane closures on the dates I%26#39;ll be there. Even my aunt who is organizing didn%26#39;t know for sure. Thanks!

Thanks. It looks like I%26#39;ll just have to wait until the week I%26#39;m going - which is problematic since lane closures (or the entire eastbound freeway, which is a possibility) would change where I make my hotel reservation. I%26#39;m not much of a gambler, but I guess I%26#39;ll have to take a chance one way or the other - either further away from the reunion, or risk getting stuck on the way.

If you are close to the turnpike just take it into Monroeville area bypassing the Parkway headache.

Another alternative route is Ohio Turnpike to Allegheny Valley exit which will take you to the eastern suburbs without the Parkway. Would be able to help you a little more if you gave an idea of your destination off the Parkway.

Thanks for the detour info. We%26#39;re heading east, out past Monroeville one day (Murrysville), have to go to South Hills another, and want a day at Kennywood for fun. I was looking for a centrally located hotel, and the one my dad wants to stay at is the Holiday Inn Parkway East. It has mixed reviews, but is by far the best location - if we%26#39;re not stuck in traffic trying to get to/from. Do you think Monroeville might be better?
