Cab company

Arriving at JFK on Wednesday 13th Aug at 11.30am. Need then to transfer to Philadelphia. Have had quotes for limo transfer for the fout of us, all around $300. This is outside of our budget, so looking for local knowledge to recommend a cab company that would be cheaper, we don%26#39;t need a fancy limo, a cab would be just fine.

Thanks for any help or advice you can give.

Under NY rates, a cab will probably be MORE and may not be able to handle 4 persons and luggage. Thats if you can find one who is willing to do the run. Cabs will charge for the FULL round trip (240 miles round trip plus traffic time and bridge charges, etc. - I%26#39;ve heard as much as $500 in cab fees depending on traffic)

The Limo transfer is your best option, your other is to take the Metro into NYC to Penn station and grab either Amtrak or NJT, but with 4 of you you will not save much money.

You might want to check out a one-way (large) car rental if you can handle driving on the ';wrong'; and heavy traffic. It should be much cheaper than the ';limo';. ';Limo'; is a misnomer. They are almost always passenger vans.

I ran a one way with avis - $130 not including gas and tolls.. Nasty one way fee.

Still less than $300, but after a long, tiring flight, and wrong-side driving...

The only other thought I have is to find your way from JFK to Manhattan via public transit. In Manhattan you can then find a cheap bus service to Philadelphia on Greyhound, boltbus or megabus, however, I think that is a very complicated trip.

I myself would not enjoy driving from JFK to Philadelphia and the traffic can be horrible through Long Island and NYC. For you it will be incredibly more stressful since you don%26#39;t know where you are going and are driving on the other side of the road.

Therefore, my advice would be to pay the price of the limo. Next time try to fly into Philadelphia directly!

If you have not already, try posting this question in the NYC forum.
