We are traveling into Philly in September and are staying at the Cortyard by Marriott. Because of high flight costs, we have decided to drive from Cleveland. The parking at the Marriott is around $40/day. Is there a good place to park outside of the city and take the SEPTA into the city?
Downtown Parking
It depends on how many there are of you and where you feel safe leaving your car for an extended period. SEPTA fares range from $2.00/person/each way (bus, subway, trolley) to $9.00/person/each way (maximum rail fare, though you would probably be in the $5/person each way range), and you can%26#39;t leave your car overnight in the SEPTA lots, so you%26#39;re looking at on-street parking. As you can see, it generally pays to just bite the bullet and park in town, especially once you factorn in travel time and schedules.

Also, you can park your car in a nearby garage rather than pay the Marriott prices but you will not have in and out privileges.
There are only 2 of us, but I did not realize you could not leave your car overnight at the SEPTA lots. Any advice on nearby parking garages? We do not need in/out privlages. I am only being so cheap because I would rather spend my money on a decent meal and drinks than parking!!
there are several parking garages nearby, I am afraid I don%26#39;t know specifics of the prices, but other people may.
In the building where I work it costs $26 a day to park, which I think is expensive, so I bet that you will find something even cheaper if you drive around a little bit
Here is a link to nearby parking:

Check out #5 on the list, it is $18.00 for 24 hours. Don%26#39;t go by the prices on the right, as these are commuter prices. Click on each garage for 24 hour prices and operating hours and other info.
Again, these will not have in/out privleges, but you probably will not need your car.
Regarding SEPTA parking- Just to clarify: overnight parking is permitted at most regional rail stations, the problem is that you need to pay for it each day by depositing money ($1.00) in the collection boxes before the parking fee collector gets there, which is roughly who-knows-when, or you will get a ticket. This is why I say you can%26#39;t park overnight- it%26#39;s just not practical. Now, it is free on the weekends, but some lots are permit-only, and you can%26#39;t park in those spots. And train service is less frequent on the weekends, plus, there are many stations where I would not leave my car overnight. If you still want to try it, I can suggest some safer stations, but I really strongly reccomend against it.
I sent you a PM about this.
To whom did you send the PM?
