We wonder if we will have to check our backpacks before going into historical sites.
Backpacks ok to carry in sites?
I don%26#39;t recall that checking backpacks was a requirement at any of the buildings in Independence Park. However, you should expect them to be searched while going through security at the Liberty Bell and Indepencence Hall.
I volunteer at a couple of museums in the city, and in both cases patrons are asked to check backpacks because they are hazardous to valuable antiques and irreplaceable articles in tight quarters.
Backpacks ok to carry in sites?
You cannot take a backpack into the U.S. Mint. It will be searched at other sites.
It also depends on the size of the packs. Day packs are usual ok, full camping packs are often asked to be left at the desk.
The constitution center may run a bag check depending on the exhibit.
