Doubletree Downtown ???

Hi, I just booked a couple of nights at this hotel for the nights of 7/6 %26amp; 7/7. On the 6th I%26#39;ll be going to a Bucs game and on the 7th I%26#39;m going to Kennywood. Im from Cleveland(no jokes please)!

My biggest concern is the parking fees at the hotel, to much for my liking. Any other reasonable(cheaper) options available? How does the shuttle from the hotel operate? Will it take me to PNC?

Is this a cool place for me and my 9 year old(baseball junkie) son to stay? Are we close to this Mt. Washington I keep reading about on this terrific forum?

Any and all info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advanced, Pizzaman.

Doubletree Downtown ???

While I know that you feel the parking is high....given the fact that many people feel driving downtown is crazy..I think you would be best served by parking the car and walking. You would be about a half mile from the ballpark...it is walkable..although you might take the shuttle to the bridge and just walk across from there. You are a block from the T-station that can take you to station square and from there you can take the incline...you can also do a just ducky tour it is located in station square as well. There are some areas of construction downtown and I just think that Pittsburgh is so walkable you would be better off. Don%26#39;t be afraid to ask passer by for help...after all we are the friendliest city!!!

Doubletree Downtown ???

Glad you%26#39;re coming to Pittsburgh!

If you%26#39;re driving into town, you%26#39;ll have to park somewhere and pay. I don%26#39;t know what the Doubletree charges to park, but most spots downtown are pricey, so personally I would opt for the convenience of parking at the hotel.

The hotel gets very good reviews on this site. It is in a businessey area - the Renaissance and the Spring Hill Suites are the only hotels that get you in the thick of the baseball atmosphere - but you can easily shuttle or walk or take the subway to the ballpark or Station Square/the incline.

Thanks for the good advice.

Parking at the hotel is about $20 a day!

I%26#39;m only paying $49 a night to stay there(great deal I hear), so it seems a little odd that my car is paying such high room and board.

A question about the ';dancing Water Fountain';, am I close to it from the hotel? Is it pretty cool?

Any additional advice on must do%26#39;s while I%26#39;m in Steelers town would be very welcomed

Thanks again, Pizzaman.

You%26#39;re a 10-15 minute walk from not one but two dancing water fountains...one is in PPG Place and the other in Station Square. I like the PPG Place one a lot...I tend to get mesmerized by it.

To me the Incline is the No. 1 must-do, followed by the Strip District if you%26#39;re there on a Saturday morning or afternoon. People with kids rave about the Children%26#39;s Museum on the North Side, so your son might like that.

We have stayed at the Doubletree 3 times and even with my Govt. Discount, we still about $99 a night. Pay the parking for convenience purpose, you still are way below what the Hampton Inn charges!

The shuttle will only take you to the rivers. Due to insurance reasons, they will not cross the bridges...I tried.

You are right across the street from the ';T'; (subway) stop that can take you to Station Square which is lots of fun clubs, bars.

Enjoy!

oops, just realized today is the 6th and you are already there.

Have fun!
