Great New Visitors Center

We visited Gettysburg on Sun. 6/29. We had already booked a Licensed Battlefield Guide for 9:30am. We arrived early and started the museum at the Visitors Center. Great new, well planned museum. Since we visited early Sunday morning it was not crowded at all. The visit to the Battlefield with the guide is a great way to experience what happened at Gettysburg. Most of my families knowledge about the Battle was very general in nature prior to our visit. The guide was able to make our experience come to life. The visual layout along with his descriptions made the tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and answered our questions as we went along. Pointed out monuments that were from the states we are from along with descriptions of what their role was during this battle. Well worth the dollars spent so hire the guide. They even drive your car so you don%26#39;t have to worry about where to pull over etc. The tour was 2+ hours. After our tour, we returned to the visitors center but the crowds had arrived and it was difficult to see much. So we made a quick stop in the gift shop and left.

Scroll down a few postings to Hiring the tour guides. It reinforces what your experience was like. I%26#39;m glad you had such a good experience with them.
