Beach area near DC/Baltimore/Hershey

Planning a last minute trip for my family in a few weeks. We are going to DC,Hershey,Williamsport and Baltimore. I am looking for advice on a nice beach area near Baltimore or DC to go to for a few days. Any advice is welcome as well as any lodging recommendations. Looking for a nice beach resort type place. We have two boys 13 and 9.

Thank you

Ocean City MD would be your best bet....closest proximity to your destinations...great beach and lots for the kids to do, very touristy though but lots of fun if you don%26#39;t mind the ';touristy'; part.

Just curious, why Williamsport? Are you going to visit the Little League Hall of Fame?

Ocean City, MD would be my choice too. But, if you%26#39;re looking for a smaller area try Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. OC MD is 150+ blocks of high-rise condos and hotels. RB is much smaller. If you want to save money on the amusement park part of your trip, I would highly recommend Knoebels Grove in Elysburg, PA instead on of Hersheypark. Knoebels has been rated the top family amusement park in the US. Best bumper cars, best pizza, best haunted house top-ten roller coasters, free parking, free admission (pay-one-price or pay for individual rides with tickets) and free entertainment.

If you aren%26#39;t interested in the beach scene associated with the Atlantic Ocean or the drive then look into Herrington Harbor on the Chesapeake Bay in Friendship, MD. There isn%26#39;t a huge amount to do but they have a great pool, nice little beach, really cool cabanas and a short drive from Baltimore or DC. 2 miles away in Chesapeake Beach there is a small but efficient water park, the railway museum and boarwalks both in Chesapeake Beach and North Beach. Sure beats the hectic touristy stuff of OC or even some of the Delaware beaches.

If you want to stay near Hershey, Mt. Gretna has a lake with beach, evening entertainment, etc.
