Hampton Inn Center Hotel

Hi, my grandson and I are staying at this hotel in february - can anyone tell me what the location, area etc is like - would be safe say walking back to the hotel early evening for instance? Thanks you

Hampton Inn Center Hotel

Early evening in February is dark, and that location is not very busy in the evenings (after rush hour) unless there is a convention in town (it is very near to the Convention Center). It can feel a little desolate otherwise. I think your main problem will be cold rather than safety- February is our coldest month, and the bad guys tend to stay inside. You may encounter some homeless people, but they are usually harmless. Mainly, I think you will be cold. Where will you be walking back from? I can give you some safer/more interesting routes to take.

The area is not the nicest and at night you will likely see various homeless or sketchy looking characters hanging around. It may not have a safe feeling about it and if you feel uncomfortable just take a cab.

Sorry, but I will digress from the other two. Yes, there may be the occasional homeless person (this is a large city after all), but the area is well patrolled and maintained, and I would not have any concerns, beyond the usual large city precautions.

The amount of traffic in that area will depend a lot on if there is a convention in the center, so you may find it a bit quieter or busier than you expect accordingly. You are more likely to take a cab due to foul, cold weather, than for security purposes..

Loonbeam,

You didn%26#39;t digress from us at all, you actually agreed with everything we said! :)

In any event, unless there are particular reasons for staying at this hotel, I would suggest to Annmarie911 that she considering switching to something more tourist-friendly. It%26#39;s a nice hotel, but there are nice hotels in better locations for similar money.
