Cottages on a lake

Hi, I am looking for an affortable cottage to rent August 17-23 on the lake. It is for my husband, myself and our two boys age 13 %26amp; 5. I keep picturing something from the movie ';on golden pond';. My husband keeps laughing at me. So in reality we are looking for something affortable on the lake where we can swim, fish, use a boat, and at night have campfires and stuff. PLEASE HELP! I know its short timing but we would really love to be able to do this with the boys. Thank you!

Pennsylvania is a big state.Need more info. What route would u take into Pa? How far into state are u willing to travel?

Raystown Lake near Huntington PA is a beautiful location. I have not personally rented a cabin there; however, if you do a yahoo search of ';Raystown Lake Rentals'; you will get some hits. Also, there is Lake Raystown Resort that has cabin rentals.

Another beautiful lake area is Eagles Mere, PA.

I assume since you posted on the PA forum you are looking for somewhere in PA; however, if you are interested in the Finger Lakes region of NY, a friend rented from this company and was very pleased with their lake side cottage.

Try this place--we stayed here a few years ago and loved it.

It has a pond and not a lake, but is gorgeous. There are two ponds, one which is swimmable and one which is not. And the town of Wellsboro is cute and quaint. Other cabins in the Wellsboro area can be found here.

We have also enjoyed the Cook Cabins (up in northwest PA--search Cook%26#39;s Riverside Cabins and the Pale Whale Canoe Fleet), although that might be too far of a trip for your family. It%26#39;s along the Clarion River and there is great canoeing. The cabins are old-fashioned log cabins. They are clustered together, which seemed a drawback to me at first. But being able to walk to get ice cream won me over!

Woy Bridge Campground, along the Raystown Branch of the Juniata, is another place we have visited. It%26#39;s in the south central part of the state. Very quiet and very removed. We stayed in the camper cabins, which don%26#39;t have bathrooms, but there is a cottage that is fully equipped. We liked it so much that we bought our first kayak there!

Another option is to search the PA DCNR website. Many state parks have cabins. In the week that you are looking for, there may be some availability as it%26#39;s right around the time that school is starting.

Good luck! There are lots of great cabins out there. You%26#39;ll find it to be a fun time.

I might thrown Lake Wallenpaupeck into the mix. You might give this place a look:

Thanks for the other recommendations to add to our list:)

Great! Thank you everyone for your quick responses. We actually found a place on Fairview Lake. It%26#39;s called Martin%26#39;s Lakefront Cottages. It looks rather nice and it comes with a boat, which sold my husband and boys! Thank you again for everything!
