During December, my boyfriend and I are doing an 18-day road trip from Texas to New York and back again!
On the way UP, we are stopping in Memphis and then Nashville, and after that is where I could use some advice....
The big names on the map are Cincinnati and then Pittsburgh, but I%26#39;m wondering; What other places are there to stop that aren%26#39;t big on the map? We are early 20%26#39;s, listen to more alternative music genres %26amp; love to party! Has anyone done a similar journey and found some great little places to stay a night or two? Any advice would help, and also hotels / motels in these places? We are on a budget!
Somewhere to stop on a road trip
Look into the South Side of Pittsburgh. Plenty of bars and I%26#39;m sure you could find one that fits your taste. Not sure of hotels extremely close, but I know others here have recommended a couple places close to it, so they may be able to help again (or do a search for south side hotels).
I don%26#39;t know if you%26#39;re looking to be that close to a major city or not though. You%26#39;ll only be 2 miles from Downtown, but it%26#39;s definately fun.

I%26#39;ll second south side pittsburgh. The closest hotel is the Holiday inn Express on 10th street which puts you in walking distance of the action.
There is also a B%26amp;B that has received some mixed reviews. I think it is the Morning glory inn.
There are a number of places to see live music - my favorite is Club Cafe. It%26#39;s on 12th street so close to HI express. Check their calendar.

Lots of good restaurants and unique shops along the main drag (East Carson Street) and there are some chain retailers/restaurants at SouthSide Works which is about 26 street.

I am hoping to see as many live shows as possible, so the club cafe link is wonderful!
