Good Dining w/Kids?

We (couple and boys 9 %26amp; 11) will be visiting the Lancaster area Labor Day weekend for a soccer tournament and are looking for restaurant recommendations. Last year we had dinner at a brew pub in the downtown area (don%26#39;t remember the name,) which we really enjoyed, and visited an Amish restaurant, which we did not care for. We are interested in recommendations of restaurants that are independent (non-chain) and closer in style to the brew pub than to an Amish restaurant. No disrespect intended to Amish restaurants, but we prefer more inventive, flavorful food. The boys are well behaved and have fairly adventurous tastes for their age, so kids menus are not needed. Thanks.

Good Dining w/Kids?

Two years ago we made a trip to Lancaster for the amusement parks. We stayed at the Country Inn of Lancaster, and really enjoyed their restaurant. They are located on rt 30, right in the middle of everything.

Our daughter had pizza, our son had a steak, and my wife and I both had babyback ribs and salads. They also had a small bar and an area for takeout food.

We thought the prices were really good, the food was good, and the atmosphere was comfortable. Not too many places you can go for ribs and a cold beer and also feel comfortable taking your kids!

If you decide to go, you should call first to see what they have on the menu:

Must have been Lancaster Brewing/Walnut Street Grille.

Since then a new brewery has opened, Iron Hill

There are multiple locations, but the food is pretty good and we enjoy the beer.

If you don%26#39;t mind the drive, go to Adamstown and have a meal at Stoudt%26#39;s

We really like their beer. The food is usually great, though there have been a couple misses.

Those are really the only brewpub options in the area. If you do head to Adamstown, one of my very favorite restaurants is there, the Black Horse:

Other places we like (off the top of my head, so I know I am missing a lot) are the Horse Inn (Lancaster City), Molly%26#39;s Pub, the Pressroom, Ichiban, Symposium... pretty sure they all have websites.

Along the same lines as the brew pubs, there%26#39;s Character%26#39;s Pub and Annie Bailey%26#39;s. Annie Bailey%26#39;s has a better beer selection and a huge new deck. It%26#39;s also more of an %26#39;Irish%26#39; pub than Character%26#39;s, but both have very good food.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. We will definitely give them a try.
