Hotels with 2-Room Suites

My son and I will be in town 8/4-8/6 and have booked a suite at Embassy Suites for around 200/n. Is there anything at comparable prices that is of better quality/location? My son is 25 and, when we travel, we usually split a suite and alternate on the pull-out sofa. We will, however, only stay in true two-room suites, with a separation between bedroom and sofa sleeper room. Otherwise, we go the extra for two rooms. Suggestions appreciated. Hotels having such suites are not always readily apparent on the common search engines.

The only one I can think of offhand is the Residence Inn, but that%26#39;s probably a bit higher ($249 base rate). The only other two room+ suites I can think of are the premium ones at the marriott and club quarters, but thats a whole different price range.

About what I figured, thanks. We%26#39;ll stay there and use the Hilton points later. I think we reserved a room with a view of the Square. Is it better to look back toward the Independence area?

The ';square'; is not what you think it is. There is no square at all, actually. For any kind of view at all, you need to be on a high floor. If you are on a high floor, any view will be good. If you are on a low floor, it doesn%26#39;t really matter, as none are good.

I wasn%26#39;t really thinking that the ';square'; was anything much other than the hotel%26#39;s descriprion of their Logan Square view rooms (below):

';Guests enjoy a captivating view of Logan Square, the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and the Art Museum from a private balcony.';

Having not been to Philadelphia since as a child, I automatically would assume that a higher floor provides a better view, but mine was more a question of direction.

Logan Square is more of a circle. There is a nice fountain in it. If the room provides a view facing the logan circle and art museum, that would be a nice view.

A %26#39;square%26#39; room at the ES means you can see some part of the fountain, at some angle. Very popular rooms at fireworks time...

Rocknroll and Loonbeam,

I think you are confused about the hotel. The hotel in question is not on Logan Circle, or near it. It is across from City Hall in the old City Hall Annex. The Residence Inn is at 1 Penn Square East, and as you know, there is no square or park there (other than concrete parks). The address is misleading. The only views are from up high.

I will again stress the importance of being high.

owlyn,

Reread the original post, then go take a long nap. ;)

As far as view goes, I%26#39;m talking Embassy. I just threw the RI out there as an option ;)
