Driving from Hershey to Catskills - advice?

Can anyone give some advice as to the best route to the Catskills - there seems to be two routes either the I-84 or the I-78 to the I-87, thanks for your help

Can you specify a little? Are you looking for fastest route, most scenic, least traffic etc? Do you mind toll roads?

78 to 287/ 87 is probably the fastest route. That route will get you there in about 5 hours. It can be done as quickly as 4 hours if there%26#39;s less traffic and you make few stops. It depends on day of week and time of day you%26#39;re driving since those roads are heavily used by commuters and can be very busy.

If you aren%26#39;t in a hurry you might want to consider taking Route 209 - it will add 1 to 2 hours to the trip but will take you through some very pretty areas especially the portion the runs along the Delaware river on the Pennsylvania side.

I%26#39;ve always just gone 743 north from Hershey, up 81N, and across 84.

I would avoid I-78 at all cost..
