We have 2 kids...4 and 5 yrs. We live an hour away from Cedar Point and were planning on going there for a day, but then found DW online. Has anyone been to both? Wondering if it would be worth the 8 hr. trip. We%26#39;ve done CP many times, but never with kids and don%26#39;t know if it will be just too overwhelming.
Thanks!

I%26#39;ve been to both. We have gone to DW because it%26#39;s close and (used to be) cheap...now it is getting more expensive. Understand that it is tucked into the middle of a sprawl-filled suburban strip. Now, if you would like to enjoy the other attractions of the Lancaster/Hershey area, it might be worth adding to a trip. But I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s worth traveling such a far distance for the park alone, especially when Cedar Point is so close.
You may be interested in looking into Idlewild Park, slightly out of Pittsburgh. We%26#39;re going there this weekend with our 3 and 9 year old (overnight with tickets was the same as DW tickets alone) and can let you know if it%26#39;s a good destination! It seems to be a smaller, more kid-oriented park.

thanks so much...please do let me know about the park outside of P-burgh...my brother lives an hour from there, so if it%26#39;s nice we might want to check that out!
We have a 5 and 8 yr old and went to DW year before last and absolutely loved it. Lots of great family rides and the the kids were able to ride just about everything because it is geared to younger kids (maybe 12 and under). Lots of family rides that don%26#39;t go in circles (I don%26#39;t do circles)and so park was fun for me as well. We go to Idlewild every year and it is also a great park for young children. Both have nice water parks adjoining. If I had to pick between DW and Idlewild, I would choose DW if you have time to do the Strasburg Railroad, Crestwood Farm, Sturgis Pretzels where kids learn to make pretzels, amish tour--recommend Bird in Hand Family Inn. If you are only going for a day to do park - go to Idlewild. Hope this helps
As the others have said, I would include DW only if visiting the Lancaster area to include Strasburg RR, etc.
I went to Cedar Point about 30 years ago. I remember it being large and truly wonderful!! DW is a very nice small park, but it really can%26#39;t compare to Cedar Point. However, it is a very manageable park for younger children.
