Pocono anniversary trip and nascar race help please!!!

Hi all, I want to say thanks first of all for any help that anyone is able to give me.

I wanted to get some info for a trip I am planning to the Poconos in August 2008 for my wife and my wedding anniversary. We are also big NASCAR fans so I am going to come the first weekend of August for the NASCAR race. We will be checking in on Friday August 1st, and checking out on Monday August 4th.

Ideally, what I am looking for is a ';romantic'; place to stay that is not crazy far from the racetrack. I was looking at the caesar resorts, which offer ';race packages';, but their prices are HIGH. If there are any places that at least offer a bus ride to/from the race, that would be great. Ok, I will wait for responses, dont want to babble on here.....

We were at the Pocono July races a couple of years ago. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express near the Scranton/Wilkes Barre Airport. Not really romantic, but an easy drive to the track and reasonably priced.

Parking is not difficult at the Pocono track, there is a huge field in which to park. The problem is, as with most NASCAR tracks, when you are ready to leave, so are 100,000 other folks. Whenever we go to a new track, we scout out the best route to and from the track on Friday or Saturday.

Try logging on to www.800poconos.com and look for some accomodations there. Of course, the closer you are the track, the higher the price and the more likely that they are already booked.

Good luck, enjoy the races. We will be in Dover for the races on June 1. We also make an annual trip to Phoenix for the races in November.

Great, thanks for the tips. Yeah your right, you go to a race, you do NOT planning on driving right out of the place, thats for sure. I actually found a beautiful, romantic, nicely priced place 20 mins from the track and secured my seats in section SE on the start/finish line, so I am set and cant wait for that weekend.
