a days stay

my wife and I want to go to jim thorpe%26#39;s for the day and we are interested in what to do. I don%26#39;t want to hear about the hotel%26#39;s, just want to know what you can do for a day trip. We are about 1hour and 1/2 away from there, maybe 2hours at most. Just want to go for the day not the weekend.

Jim Thorpe is a very ';walkable'; town. There is a train ride you can take. It%26#39;s lovely during fall foliage...not sure when you plan to visit. Not sure if it%26#39;s still there, but there was a model train display on the 2nd floor of the train station. You can also tour the church in town, and if I remember correctly, I think there%26#39;s an old jail also. One of the highlights of the town for us was touring the Asa Packer Mansion up on the hill. Asa and his father, Harry, were prominent figures in the town. Their houses are side by side. The Harry Packer Mansion is a lovely Bed and Breakfast. One year we visited, they actually allowed people to come in and ';tour'; the Bed and Breakfast. After touring, we actually stayed there a year later for our 5 year anniversary.
