Dining with Allergies in Lancaster

We%26#39;re traveling to Lancaster for the first time with my young daughter with several food allergies. Eating out is always a challenge. Does anyone have experience with dealing with food allergies in the Lancaster area? Will restaurants mind if I bring her food in?

dear momof2va personally i have no experience with food allergies, however living in the area I can help you with locations such as grocery stores etc. to purchase food for your daughter in order to have safe food for her. Furthermore I am a chef in lancaster and if any restaurant has a problem with your situation please let me know and I will inform my colleagues of what transpired

I am severely allergic to shellfish. When I walk into a restaurant I tell the hostess this immediately. I then ask if this will be a problem. I emphasize - that I am not kidding. Either tell me the truth or get ready to do CPR.

Almost 100% of the time, the hostess will excuse her/himself to speak to the chef/cook. About 1/2 the time someone from the kitchen will come out and speak to me personally, 1/4 of the time they say - don%26#39;t eat here and 1/4 of the time they say - its fine. Its the last one that concerns me - I usually leave.

From my experience - most people are very sympathetic and take the situation seriously. Just a guess but I think most restaurants consider it bad for business to be doing CPR on a customer during dinner service:) Good luck.

P.S. I doubt that any restaurant if explained the situation before you are seated....will have a problem with bringing in food for a child with food allergies.
