We%26#39;re headed for a brief trip to Idlewild Park in Ligonier in July, lured by the great package rates to the area hotels. Is there enough at Idlewild for two days? I was leaning toward this because both of my sons (9 and 3) really enjoy water parks, and the one at Idlewild looks as if it would be fun for both of them. But I%26#39;m not sure.
If there is not enough for two days, are there other good attractions in the Laurel Highlands area? (We%26#39;ve decided not to go on to Pittsburgh) Any good nature centers or state parks?
Thanks!
One or two days in Idlewild?
There was definitely enough in Idlewild for two days for my family---two boys, ages 14 and 15, who loved the water park, and my daughter, who is 5, loved kiddie land---we were there for two hours and did not repeat a ride-there are that many kiddie rides to choose from!My husband and I liked that the park was not as crowded as Kennywood, and seemed more oriented toward family fun than thrill rides. Also, in Donegal, PA, where we stayed at the Day%26#39;s Inn, there is a place called Caddie Shak, where they have a few small amusement rides, 3 different go kart tracks, miniature golf, bumper boats, etc. We are planning on a two or three day trip this summer.
One or two days in Idlewild?
what great package rates did you get?? do tell?
Check out the new Hampton Inn in Blairsville. They have special package rates that you can find out about if you call there directly. There is a link from the Idlewild site to all of the local hotels that offer package deals. I was really impressed by the prices!
thanks we always like the hampton inn.. wonderful!!
We went this weekend. Idlewild was great! There was plenty for us to do on two days. The park was clean and great for kids. The Blairsville Hampton Inn, which has an Idlewild package, is about twenty-five minutes away. The hotel is very nice and new. I definitely recommend Idlewild as a destination for families with younger children.
