SEPTA from Concordville area to downtown Phila

What is the best way to get from the Concordville area to downtown Philadelphia using public transportation? We want to end up in the area of Independence Hall. How difficult is it to use the SEPTA system? Advice/hints/tips welcome.

The best way would be if you can drive to or get a ride to Media and take the Septa R-3 regional rail train. That will be about a 30 min ride to center city philadelphia leaving you at Market East station approx. at 9th and market sts. just a short walk from the Independence Hall area.

If you don%26#39;t have that option there is bus service to Concordville on Septa bus line #111 (about one hour). This takes you to the 69th st. terminal where you would need to change to the Market-Frankford line, that takes about another 20 min to get you to 5th and Market Sts. This option doesn%26#39;t sound very convenient so see if you can get some kind of ride to the R-3

In addition to what rocknroll said, there is construction on the Market-Frankford line right now, so you will be on a shuttle bus from 69th Street to 40th Street stations. This would add time to your trip- probably about 20 minutes. You%26#39;re looking at about a 2 hour public transit trip each way. Fare is $3.25/person each way.

Agree completely with Rocknroll. Take the train if at all possible. Septa is easy to use and their website is as well (www.septa.com). Look at their ';plan a trip'; feature and their maps for more info.

If driving up Baltimore Pike from Concordville, make a right turn at Orange Street in downtown Media. The station is about 4 blocks from that intersection. Parking is available at the station. As a fall back, but of course less convenient, there are parking lots and garages in downtown Media (just go back up Orange Street) and also at Moylan-Rose Valley station, which is the next stop on the R-3 line and about a mile from Media station.

ELWYN STATION

As an alternative to Media, you also could get the R-3 train at Elwyn Station, which is about a mile from Granite Run Mall.

From Concordville, exit Baltimore Pike at PA 352 (Middletown Road) and turn right to Elwyn.

Turn left at the traffic light (it is a compound intersection of Middletown Road, Old Middletown Road and Elwyn Avenue). There will be a small shopping strip at the intersection.

If I remember correctly, the station is about 1/3 mile away on Elwyn Avenue. Note: Elwyn Road and Elwyn Avenue run parallel to each other on opposite sides of the SEPTA track, but I think that the parking lot is on Elwyn Avenue. You could call the station to verify.
