My mother and I are taking my 20 month old to Sesame Place at the end of July. We are trying to combine the trip with a small birthday celebration for myself. Right now, we are planning to fly into Philly, rent a car, drive to the Residence Inn in Langhorne and spend two days at Sesame Place (presumably one day with the dry and one day with the wet attractions). We will be staying two nights at the Residence Inn there.
For the final two days/one night of our trip, we could either stay in Langhorne and take the train to NYC for a day (which I am not sure would be a good idea with a little one). Or we could drive down to Philly and stay in the city for a night and see the attractions there (the Please Touch Museum for children, etc).
Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions? If staying in Philly the third night makes sense, what hotel would be a good one (I prefer nicer hotels).
Thanks so much for your help! :-)
Birthday trip: Hotel in the city or not?
You can take the SEPTA R3 train into downtown Philadelphia from the Woodbourne station, which is 5 minutes from Sesame Place. Parking is free at that station, and the ride is 55 minutes. If you want to go to NYC, the n you can drive to the Hamilton NJT station in NJ (about 15 minutes), and take NJT into NYC (about 75 minutes).
IMO, it%26#39;s not worth changing hotels from one night. BUT- I also feel that Sesame PLace will not keep you occupied for two days. The TV ads make it look like a regular-sized theme park, but it is actually quite small. I%26#39;d say it could fit inside a pro football stadium. It is situated on the edge of a shopping mall. As to the Residence Inn- it is located in an industrial (not office) park that gets a lot of truck traffic. I%26#39;ve never been inside the hotel, but since you mentioned that like nice hotels, you may not be happy with the location. You may want to consider staying in Philadelphia and driving up to Sesame Place (about 40 minutes) for a day. This also gives you the chance to pick the nicest day to go up there.

I agree with Owyln it would be better to stay in Philly and drive up to Langhorne for one day at Sesame Place.
Besides Please Touch you might enjoy a trip to the zoo with your toddler. Also, a trip to Reading Terminal Market would be fun for both adults and toddler.
You could also take in the historic sights in Philly and/or the Museum of Art.
I would no go to NY
